Lithan Academy, an accredited digital skills accelerator from Singapore, has signed an alliance agreement with Malaysia’s Quest International University (QIU) to jointly offer its Competency Learning as a Service (CLaaS®) applied degree.
QIU, in collaboration with Lithan, with the latter’s applied CLaaS degrees will develop global–ready digital talents who will catalyse and drive continued growth in the regional digital economy.
The unprecedented pace of digital transformation has resulted in critical skill gaps that businesses are struggling to fill. Employees in the digital sector need to have the ability to continuously upskill throughout their career, and this is where CLaaS® comes in.
The CLaaS® applied degree adopts competency-based curricula with work-based applied learning pedagogy to deliver knowledge acquisition in the classroom and on-the-job skills mastery at the workplace using real-world projects. CLaaS® is delivered in blended learning mode with expert mentoring from industry practitioners.
Lithan and QIU will deliver the following 1+3 years CLaaS degrees:
- Bachelor’s degree in Digital Business
- Bachelor’s degree in Digital System Administration
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering
Lithan’s Founder and CEO, Leslie Loh said, “While the Malaysian economy is faring fairly better than the average of the ASEAN, the continuing digitalisation of our lives and workplaces has left the world with a talent crunch which can’t be addressed by the conventional education format, and Malaysia is no exception to it. CLaaS is designed to close this gap between the demand and supply of this new kind of talent needed for any nation to grow industrially. QIU with the adoption of CLaaS will be able to produce an exceptional pool of digital talent; we are excited for this partnership and welcome QIU into the Pan-Asia CLaaS Alliance for higher education.”
QIU’s Chief Operating Officer Mr. Nicholas Goh said, “At QIU, we position ourselves as a provider of education that is relevant to the continually transforming industries. We aim to produce graduates who are able to make an immediate impact once they gain employment, and we pride ourselves on going beyond linear education by incorporating industry exposure into a relevant curriculum. This partnership with Lithan allows us to create more employable graduates, while also ensuring that local talent remains in Malaysia.”
